I recently spoke to a gentleman who was concerned about treating weeds in his lawn and making it generally healthier. The lawn was not in bad shape, I had seen far worse. As we walked across the lawn, most of it was nice and dense, in some areas it was almost too dense and needed dethatching. I asked him all of the general questions including how he normally watered the lawn. His reply floored me! “I haven’t watered my lawn in about four years”.

This is a prime example of how grass will, over time, develop a root system deep enough to survive on its own without irrigation. Although the grass is not very green in these pictures because it’s going into dormancy, you can still tell how dense it is.
